Syvonne’s “people-first” ethos propelled her to build two female-founded companies - Vonciere Services, an operations consultancy and Syvonne, IE – an executive leadership firm. Through her work, she supports a new generation of entrepreneurs, and nonprofit and business leaders.
Syvonne is a C-Suite leader with extensive experience in setting and transforming, the direction of non-profit organizations and health management practices. As a seasoned health care administrator, she works with partners and individuals to further a heartfelt goal to improve health equity across the country, particularly in underserved communities.
Her expertise in shaping operational strategies and building life-changing resources led her to be handpicked as Interim CEO of an organization focused on reproductive choice, health, and access. Ms. Carter’s essential leadership was required during pivotal political turning points in gender and racial equality, such as the overturning of Roe vs. Wade and systematic discrimination highlighted by Black Lives Matter global protests.
Syvonne Carter is a graduate of the Third
Sector Company’s Interim Executives Academy, the Effi Barry Institute’s Non-Profit Leadership Training, and the FEMA Emergency Management Institute. Syvonne studied Organizational Leadership at Marquette University and Healthcare Administration at Concordia University.
As the first Director of Operations for the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, she developed an ambitious goal of offering free mental health therapy programs to combat the acceleration of health disparities in the country during the pandemic. Under Ms. Carter’s leadership, the organization doubled directory memberships and expanded its ecosystem of mental health practitioners and partners. Collaborations with HBCUs and public schools resulted in vital education and service programs introduced, coupled with one million hours of free therapy being made accessible to Black communities in partnership with BET.
Prior to the BLHF, Ms. Carter served as Chief Business Operations for the Michael J. Crecencz VA Medical Center in Philadelphia, and North Florida and South Georgia VA Health System in Gainesville, FL. Concurrently, serving as the Acting Associate Director of the Lake City VA Medical Center as appointed by the Medical Center Director. During her tenure, she began centralizing staff and system resources to maximize productivity and protocols, resulting in improved patient satisfaction. Her direction spurred action among key decision-makers to create, sustain and invest in inter-facility education across the 141 healthcare systems.
